Frequently Asked Questions

What media do you specialise in?

I work in oil, watercolour, and charcoal.

How will the finished artwork be presented?

Oil paintings are done on Belgian linen, stretched on natural wood stretchers (frameless) and ready for wall display.

Watercolour paintings are done on Arches 300gsm coldpressed paper, and mounted on archival matt board. Charcoal drawings on paper are similarly mounted.

Framing is optional for all media and can be decided after the artwork is finished. You can engage your own framer, or work with us! We provide framing and we’ll be happy to explore options.

Do I send you a picture, or must the person be present for you to create the artwork?

You can either:

(1) Send us a picture for Kelvin to use as painting reference (send more pictures if you’re not sure, we can advice you on which one works best), or

(2) Sit for a painting in our studio or at your own location (this takes at least 3 to 4 hours – great for figurative art, a challenge for kids!), or

(3) Book a photo-shoot with us, then choose your favourite photo to paint from.

Can you change the background?

Yes. I can customise the background, and include specific details to add meaning to the artwork.

What sizes do you provide?

For oil paintings on linen, sizes range from 10×12″ to large, wall-sized artwork.

For watercolour paintings on paper, sizes range from 7.5×10″ (~A4) to 20″x30″ (~A1).

For charcoal drawings on paper, sizes range from 8×10″ (~A4) to 16×24″ (~A2).

How do I commission a painting?
